Raber Home Design

What Can I Do For You?

ð Provide a complete design service for new home construction, home alterations, and home additions large or small.

ð Work with you to realize your design vision while providing for your individual/family needs with a highly functional house plan. The famous architect Robert A. M. Stern once observed that most Americans don’t get the home they want, but the home that’s available. Come to me with your ideas and I’ll add in my expertise—and you can have the home you want.

How am I Different?

ð I believe I have something more to offer than other more common sources of home design these days—design/build firms geared toward mass production, or those many home plan books displayed on grocery store magazine racks.

ð I do not do run-of-the-mill “cookie cutter” design, whether for new construction or adding on. When designing an addition to an older home, for example, I strive to deliver the genuine article, guided by the distinctive style of the existing house—whether it be a cozy Arts and Crafts bungalow, an ornate Victorian, a stately Tudor, or even an elegantly simple Mid-Century Modern.

ð For eight years I did design work in just this way for a custom builder in Williamston, Michigan, while also doing hands-on carpentry and cabinet work, keeping me in touch with the practical side of building. I am presently working independently.

ð I have an Associates Degree in Historic Preservation from Belmont Technical College in Ohio. I am a licensed builder in the State of Michigan (#2101089027).

If you have an upcoming project in mind, and you would rather not settle for what is widely available and not really what you want, give me a call and let’s talk about it!
